Welcome to the Self Care Day Lifestyle

Welcome to the Self Care Day Lifestyle

Hello extraordinary human, and welcome to Self Care Day.

If you've been a part of our community for awhile, thanks so much for all your support and patronage to Brain Snacks Co, and for your continued business with our new store, Self Care Day. And if you're new, welcome! You're here just in time to see the beginnings of an nourishing self care culture that we can all share together.

In case you don't know, my name is Donna and I am the founder of Self Care Day, a business that I hope will make it easier for women to include self care rituals in their daily routines. Rituals like mindfulness, where we can enter a peaceful plane in our mindseye and relish in our senses.

In 2019, I launched Brain Snacks Co as a way to give women more choices about how they live and work in the male-by-default world. The brand included a specialty cafe, workspace, childcare, professional development and an online store. Unfortunately, after three years surviving the pandemic, we didn't have the resources to be sustainable. Brain Snacks Co closed at the end of July 2022.

Life doesn't wait to evenly distribute our stress throughout our life. While I was working on Brain Snacks, there were numerous emotional and physical traumas that were overwhelming and disarming.

Despite all of the challenges I have encountered, I feel lucky to still be alive in the world and to learn the lessons of self care. I want to share these with you through Self Care Day.

In the last 10 years, I have learned a lot about personal resilience, mental health and recovery. In my youthful, millennial naievity, I thought that no matter what life threw at me, I could perservere through sheer stubborness and mental toughness. If the journey put stress on my systems, I could deal with that later when I had the time and space. A lot happened to teach me that my body and mind have limits and that they won't wait for the right time to make those limits known.

In my youthful, millennial naievity, I thought that no matter what life threw at me, I could perservere through sheer stubborness and mental toughness.

I hope that through connection to Self Care Day, women can find ways to include more self care into their daily routine, so that they can avoid the negative effects of stress, like burnout, illness, depression and fatigue. So that when bad things happen, you have a store of health and energy to perservere.

In the coming weeks, I am going to share more information on self care and easy rituals that you can create and include in your routine to build your own inner reserves. When I think it will help, I'll share about my own experiences learning about the importance of self care, today and every day.
